Attention: Mr. Warren V. Bush, Producer
Dear Warren:
It is indeed a delight and honor to hear from you and I was very pleased to have the opportunity to read the excellent article written by Mr. Kenneth Snelson in which he explained his theory of atomic structure.
I am very favorably impressed by the concept of an atom mechanics which Mr. Snelson has developed and I believe it is the most logical explanation for the behavior of the electrical force fields and associated magnetic distributions of energy which is associated with the anatomy of the atom.
I find the Snelson theory may have some important explanations for the solor corona behavior. The photographs in slow speed movies of solar prominence makes possible the tracing of magnetic field contours on the solar surface. There is some agreement between observed motion and the Snelson magnetic field theory pertaining to the surface of a sphere.
It is my suggestion that you send a reprint of the paper to Dr. Donald Menzel, Director of Harvard College Observatory, Cambridge, Mass., and request that he comment on the paper. Please mention that the request for his opinion has been suggested by me and I am sure he will very glad to correspond with you about it.
I have sent a copy of the Snelson paper to a friend of mine who is a Physicist at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, for his comment. When I have received word from him, I will combine his comments with mine and send to you this further discussion of criticism of the paper. I feel at this time, however, that the publication of the theory in the Scientific American is justified and may provoke interesting commentary from many scientists.
Ruth and I miss seeing you and Pat and remember with great pleasure our many stimulating evenings together. When your letter came I was in Canada attending a Shakespear festival at Stratford, Ontario. We have attended this festival during the summers of the past 3 years and find their production is continuously improving.
I shall write again soon and I close with best personal regards from Ruth and me to you and Pat.
Sincerely,
