Dear Mr. Snelson,
Recently a fascinating reprint of your article can to the attention of several graduate students in the Design Department of Southern Illinois University. It had been forwarded to us by our advisor, Mr. John McHale.
Although Buckminster Fuller has been a personal friend and unofficial advisor to many of us for several years, we have never found any document as clear, thorough and stimulating on this subject. In the past, we have heard Bucky mention and occasionally display ideas that involve atomic thoery. As you probably know, Bucky has a gift of being very specific in a very vague way. Your article is quite individual.
The"we"in this letter are three students who have decided to join efforts in an attempt to increase our operating scope and effect. This has succeeded to our benefit and delight. Were you to visit here again, we would be happy to show you our programs and ideas.
We would be very pleased if you would be able to send us three copies of "A Design for the Atom". We might be able to buy them if they are moderate. Hoping to hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
Frank I. Schwaiger,Jr. Tony Gwilliam, Carl Nelson
